Wedding Cake Options for Micro Weddings

As we approach the end of 2020, who would have thought that we we would still be living under the shadow of COVID. With still no definite end in sight, and with 2021 rapidly approaching, I thought I’d try and show you some options for weddings cakes at intimate micro weddings.
Small weddings can be beautiful and if you decide to continue with your wedding rather than postpone, there is no reason why the day cannot be as memorable and as special as you originally planned.
1. If you have already planned your wedding cake design you can always stay with the existing size and design of your wedding cake. A few couples have decided to stick with this because they can share the cake with the family and friends who were unable to attend. I’ve also had comments from couples that they have had to compromise so much on the wedding already, that they were going to stick with the large cake and thoroughly indulge for the rest of the week (who blames them!)
 2.  The large single tier wedding cake.
Plenty of cake for 20-25 guests with some left over. You can give the cake some height and presence with the use of a cake topper and a pedestal stand. You can have these in any style from semi-naked with fresh flowers, through to an elegant iced design to suit your room and decor.... you can be as traditional or as contemporary as you want.

3. 2 tier cake.
You could have a beautiful 2 tier cake. Any design from traditionally iced through to modern buttercream with fresh flowers. Every cake is designed bespoke and will use your existing colours and ideas. This option obviously gives you a bit more cake than you need but might be worth bearing in mind to give out to the friends and family who will not be attending. The cake size won't get lost in big rooms, and it will still feel as though you've had a special wedding cake...... it all depends whether you think that this is too much for your needs (then again, the cakes freeze really well!)

4.  Mini desert table.
A small cake on a table can all be about the dressing and styling. A single tier cake on a small table can easily get lost, but just by the addition of a few surrounding biscuits or cupcakes, individual cakes and vases of flowers, the whole table can become more of a centrepiece.

5. Individuially wrapped mini cakes.
If you don't feel the need to have a traditional cake at all, you could have individual cakes that you could also use as favours/place settings. The names can be either on the packaging or iced onto the cakes themselves, - or you could have these set around a small single tier cake for you to cut. You could even have small individual cake jars.

I hope this has given you a few ideas, and re-assures you that whatever you decide to do, we can do something fabulous and memorable for your wedding cake.

Obviously if the number of guest restrictions are loosened (fingers crossed) then we can easily increase the size/number of cakes.
Feel free to get in touch to ask any questions or just to talk cake!
Enjoy your planning.
Sue.
